Geum Jan Di comes from a poor family that owns a dry-cleaning shop. One day, while visiting Shinhwa High School, a prestigious institution for the wealthy, she saves a student from a suicide attempt caused by bullying. In recognition of her bravery, Jan Di is awarded a swimming scholarship and begins attending the school. At Shinhwa High, she encounters the infamous F4, the most popular and influential group of boys, including Gu Jun Pyo, the leader and heir to the Shinhwa Group; Yoon Ji Hu, the grandson of a former president of Korea; So Yi Jung, a talented potter from a family that owns the country's largest art museum; and Song Woo Bin, whose family runs the largest construction company in the country. Jan Di's school life starts off miserably, as she struggles to fit in due to her lowly status. It becomes even worse when she becomes the new target of F4's bullying.
